    1. Did the person who died live in England or Wales or did they own property here?

    2. Was the grant of probate / letters of administration made less than 6 months ago? (If you do not know whether probate has been granted, we can find out for you).

    3. Are you:

    The spouse or civil partner of the deceased;A former spouse or civil partner of the deceased who has not remarried or entered into a civil partnership;A child of the deceased;Any other person who was treated by the deceased as a child of the family in relation to a marriage or civil partnership; orAny person who immediately before the death of the deceased was being maintained, either wholly or party, by the deceased?Any person who during the whole of the period of two years before the death of the deceased was living in the same household as the deceased and as the husband or wife of the deceased?

    If you answered ‘Yes’ to the first 2 questions and can tick one of the boxes in 3, then you may be entitled to make a claim against the estate.
